How Treatment Works

STEP 1

Testosterone
testing

Fill out our online “request form” and submit payment online (or fill out payment form and fax or email back to us). Once payment is confirmed we will then set up testing at a local lab. Same day testing is often possible.

* At home testing may be available at an additional cost for those patients who are unable to tolerate routine venipuncture of the arm. Contact us directly to discuss. This testing involves fingerstick blood spot testing. The testing kit will be mailed to the patient’s home and samples will be mailed back to the lab in an easy to send pre-paid package.

Upon receipt of lab results we will contact you to review. Lab results are normally completed and ready for review by the next business day

Complete Low T lab evaluation for 50$. Includes total testosterone, free testosterone, CBC, CMP, TSH, LH, FSH, Prolactin, and PSA labs

Note: after Testing Request Form is received we will then contact you to discuss the lab location closest to you that will be drawing the blood.

STEP 2

Physical Exam
Sent to us

Physical exam from medical provider: If based upon your lab results and medical history you are a candidate for low testosterone treatment you will then be asked to get a physical exam from your medical provider. If you don’t have a primary care physician we will locate one in your area for you to see. We ask that the medical provider fax your exam notes directly to our office. ( an exam form is located here for you to use, though your personal physician is welcome to use their own forms)

**Now is also the time to fill out the remaining forms; TRT consents, telehealth consent, etc. These forms will be required in order to move forward with treatment.

STEP 3

Provider
Consulation

Consultation with National TRT Clinics provider: After receipt of your physical exam form we will then schedule an initial consult over the phone and/or video conference. Recommendations for treatment will be discussed and benefits vs. risks of treatment will be reviewed in detail. Please have a copy of the risks vs. benefits form handy for us to review. Instructions on how to administer the recommended treatment will also be reviewed.
Expect 30 minutes for this consultation.

STEP 4

Payment
Process

Make your payment: If you are a candidate for low testosterone treatment payment will be made online prior to starting therapy. You will be instructed by a National TRT Clinics staff person to proceed with payment for your first month of therapy. Finally, any medications needed for the treatment will be ordered and shipped out promptly to the patient.

Consultations and Monitoring
after starting Treatment

Blood work at local
lab facility

After starting treatment lab work will be needed periodically throughout your care to ensure safety and best results.  From start of treatment our recommended lab work schedule is 6 weeks, 12 weeks (3 months), 24 weeks (6 months), then every 6 months. These are scheduled labs and assume the patient is responding well to treatment.  In some cases we may recommend testing in addition to (outside of the normal schedule) in order to improve your response or to investigate complaints reported during the treatment.

After two years of treatment and with a stable clinical and laboratory response we often will consider extending lab monitoring to once per year.

We routinely monitor total testosterone, free testosterone, shbg, estradiol, CBC (for hemoglobin and hematocrit), CMP, and PSA labs. Some or all of these labs are ordered at different intervals after beginning treatment.

Telehealth consults over computer or phone

After starting treatment routine follow up consultations with your National TRT Clinics medical provider will be needed. This will be done thru computer or phone.

Much like the lab (blood work) schedule, these consultations are scheduled more frequently in first 6 months of therapy.  We recommend consultation with us on week 2 and week 4 after starting treatment.  Then another consult to review lab results on/after week 6.  After this point we typically recommend follow up consults every 4-6 weeks until 6 months of continuous treatment has been reached. After this point, if the patient is having a good response to treatment and is without any concerns or side effects, we will then begin to schedule follow up consults every 3 months.

After 1 year of continuous treatment is reached and patient is stable (meaning good clinical and laboratory response) we will consider follow up consults up to every 6 months on an individual basis.

Consultations with our expert medical providers are always available outside of this recommended schedule and we are happy to accommodate patients when questions or concerns arise.

Patients can expect about 10-15 minutes for consultations.
